We recently performed the first overhaul of our Bitcoin payment system in 3 years. We have switched to the latest Bitcoin address format known as Bech32, and all addresses start with 'bc1' instead of just '1' or '3'. The benefits of this format include faster/lighter transactions and the inability to accidentally send Bitcoin Cash to our Bitcoin addresses.
This upgrade is widely supported by all Bitcoin wallets/services, so the average user won't even notice this transition. A small number of users may be using Bitcoin wallets/services that have not integrated the new address format. In those cases, we recommend you contact the service provider to request the new format, and then switch to a wallet/service that supports the new format. Here is an adoption list: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bech32_adoption, but most every service has accepted the update with just a few holdouts.
For using your remaining Bitcoin balance, you can either:
- Send the Bitcoin to your ad's Tip Jar located on your ad
- Send the Bitcoin to a different wallet that DOES support Bech32 like Bitpay, then send to our checkout
We realize this may be an inconvenience for some, but the new address format has been out since 2019 and is the Bitcoin software's default format now. It's been more than enough time for the platforms to have upgraded. Rubratings.com wouldn't be around without Bitcoin, so we're doing everything we can to support and propel it's improvement.
